Should You Use Geographic Long Tail Keywords in Article Titles?
I write a blog dedicated to people in the Home Staging Industry, advising them how best to use the internet to market their businesses. I noticed something lately about how some of them were using article marketing that applies across all markets for locally based businesses.
I have long preached about the power of what I call geographical long tail keywords.
When you are setting up your web pages for your home staging business or any other locally based business for that matter, you want your page text and the invisible meta tags behind your page to include the key geographical keyword terms appropriate for your market.
This helps the search engine know that your site is and should be shown to people in your area, and will help get your web page to the top of the search engine results for people doing a search in your community.
In smaller markets this alone, when done properly will get you to the first page of results. However, in most markets you need to go beyond this.
You need to generate backlinks to your site.
One of my favorite ways to do so is through article writing. I encourage you to create short meaningful articles and post them to article directories. Perhaps the most important of which is www.ezinearticles.com
I recently checked them for articles on Homestaging and noted several that included geographical references in their titles. There’s something good and bad to be said about that idea.
The good first. Article Directories like ezinearticles have high page ranks on their own. An article that includes your town name and home staging in it may well show up on the search engines by itself.
Being a published author online in a Google Search will certainly aid in your perceived credibility in the eyes of the reader, which is certainly good.
The downside is that far fewer newsletter, blog or ezine editors are likely to use the article. For example in one article the author’s title was: 5 ways to homestage PEI (Prince Edward Island) real estate. Since it mentions PEI, its not likely a California or Florida or Australian site on homestaging or realestate is likely to repost it.
People who reprint articles from these directories are not allowed to edit them, and thus most will just pass them by.
It’s important to understand that the widespread reposting is the primary goal of article marketing. For each republishing of your article counts in your total backlink tally. The reason to write articles is to gain this backlink power to raise your ranking on the search engines. And that would be my focus, so I would tend to say do not put geopraphy in your article titles.
That said, if you have a number of good articles written, it may be worth an experiment to see if you can’t get some of them ranked.
Now what I did like about the article was that the author did create anchor text linking his site to the term “PEI real estate.” This will help him rank higher in anyone’s search for that term. And that is what article marketing is all about from a local business perspective.

7 Types of Articles You Can Write for Varied Content
Sometimes you need to write an article and just come up blank, not knowing where to start. Today we continue to “borrow” from the expert Ken Vogt, CEO of Content Crooner. He outlines 7 approaches to article writing that will help you find several angles to pursue on your next article writing effort. I found it useful. I hope you do too. -etn
7 Types of Articles You Can Write for Varied Content
Article writing is a discipline of many facets. Different elements combine to make up a complete and successful piece. These include titles, sub-titles, introductions, body copy, and conclusions. Other elements involve literary, narrative, grammar, spelling and tone concerns.
In addition, under the umbrella “Articles” are the different types of articles you can write. When creating content you select an article type based on the message you wish to convey. You also consider the intended audience for your articles. The article type you choose must be one that presents your topic in the clearest way.
It’s important to consider your overall article marketing campaign as well. Your article distribution service submits your content to different publishers on a regular basis. Publishers love a variety of topics and a variety of article formats for their readerships.
To properly give information to your readers, you need to know the various article types. You can then blend your topic into the article format that best suits the information your audience needs. Here are seven types of articles you can write for varied content:
The “How To” Article
With this type of article you explain a process or system for doing something. This could be anything from how to bake bread, to how to make a kite. Your readers require easy-to-follow instructions that make learning something new stress-free.
It’s important in a “How To” article to clearly delineate the steps for accomplishing a task. Presenting your information with clearly numbered steps helps readers understand a process quickly. The use of sub-titles and bullet points also presents information in an organized fashion.
Your primary concern with a “How To” article is clarity. Your target audience wants simple, concise, logical, knowledgeable instruction. They are looking for the easiest way to do something that saves them time.
The Inspirational Article
Inspirational articles include narrative, and literary essay type pieces. These articles encourage and, of course, inspire readers. They help them to see the positives in life’s circumstances. An inspirational article can help a reader who is going through difficult times feel hopeful.
People from all walks of life often face similar circumstances. Through your articles you can offer advice and point them to additional resources. This aids them in embracing help to overcome the obstacles they face.
The Straight News Article
With a news article you present the five W’s to your audience in a direct way. This is objective who, what, where, when, why writing meant to give facts on a situation, event and such. News articles discuss current or recent news. This is general interest, political, business, industry, organization, sports and other types of news.
The Round-Up Article
Get out your lasso and rein in all the vital information you can. That’s what a round-up article does. You present a variety of opinions, data, statistics, forecasts, advice and the like with this article type.
An example would be an article on the latest marketing techniques for online success. You garner information from various online marketing experts. You’re “rounding up” useful information from different sources so your readers have it all in one article. In this way, there’s no need for them to search all over for this information.
The Review Article
People love review articles presented objectively. A good review article considers three or more products or services and talks about the advantages and disadvantages of each. A good review article helps a reader make an informed buying decision.
With a review article you don’t favor one product or service over another. This is “objectivity” coming into play. In a matter-of-fact manner you present the facts as pertains to each. You give good information and let your reader decide which product or service is best.
The List Article
The article you are reading right now is a list article. You have a list before you of the different types of articles you can write. With a list article you present related information. In essence, you give a brief description of each item on your list.
The “As Told To” Article
Do you know an expert who has an interesting story to tell? Do they cringe at the thought of writing? You can tell their story for them via an “As Told To” piece.
The article presents itself from the point-of-view of the expert, as he or she told it to the writer. The article does indicate that another person actually penned the piece. The reader gets authoritative firsthand knowledge presented effectively by a professional writer.
Familiarize yourself with the different article writing options available to you. Experiment with the different types as suits your diverse topics. Engage in article submission so this varied work reaches your target market. Build your audience through mastering the unique forms that comprise the craft of article writing.

3 Keyword Writing Tips
Writing articles around keywords has got to be one of the most tedious and uninteresting tasks for many webmasters. Whether you’re trying to boost traffic, increase sales, or simply gain the marketing exposure that your business deserves, writing articles to promote your business can be a great strategy. However, it’s often a tedious and unrewarding task, with the best performance not always coming from the greatest time input. Keyword article writing, also known as SEO article writing, is a strategy as old as search engines itself, and forms the backbone of any sensible SEO campaign. These three tips are designed to both ease the strains that can come with article writing and increase the results of your SEO writing campaigns. Put your pens down, brainstorm some keyword ideas, and get ready to write. Here they are:
#1 – Write first, and add keywords later.
This strategy is a great way to get the highest quality content, suitable for both the search engines and the most dedicated and specialized human readers. Whether you need to gain clients and customers or just increase page views to boost your Adsense earnings, increasing exposure through a well written article is one of the best ways to do so. Increase you content quality and convert only the best traffic by writing with human readers in mind first and foremost, and editing and formatting your content for search engines after the writing goes on. It’ll clear up your content, increase your abilities to convert readers, and create great word of mouth traffic to you.
#2 – Invest in a little inside research.
Want to pump out SEO articles at record speed? It all starts with learning about your subjects. For some people, SEO is all about pumping keyword count and maximizing the views that your articles attract. While these people get a little bit of traffic, they’re not the type that have huge client bases and massive sales. When you balance your SEO keywords with a little common knowledge and specialist information, you can attract two different crowds to your writing. The first is the me-too crowd, here to read your content and pass over your sale techniques. The other is the enthusiast crowd — the types that are ready to buy and desperate to spend their money for great content. Do your best to attract the second type of visitor above all others.
#3 – Plan your article titles before you write.
This little tip could shave 50% off of your article writing time. For many people, creativity comes at different times of the day. From 9am to midday, we’re full of creative ideas for page titles, article ideas, and other content works. However, at those same times we can’t bring ourselves to touch pad to paper and create the content that brings in those visitors. At other times, we’re ready to write but unable to form the ideas that make great articles. Combine these two different states and use different work styles and times to make your articles combine great idea and great execution.

The 5 Steps for Quickly and Easily Writing Content
Five Steps For Quickly And Easily Writing Content
Writing content is something that makes most people freeze up and flashback to their years of struggling over English papers. If you want to be a successful Internet marketer, you’re going to need to write. Don’t worry though… writing content is nothing like pouring over 5 pages on Romeo and Juliet. Creating your information product can be simple and quick when you follow these steps.
1. Research.
Before you even write a sentence of your information product, you should get your research done. Your content should flow from one idea to another and you’ll have no clue what those ideas are until you finish your research. What happens when you’re halfway through the book and then find a new way to look at the situation? Get your research done before trying to write and you’ll end up with a better product.
2. Reorder.
Start the creation process with a good outline. Getting organized is one of the most important parts of writing quickly. In order to write your content quickly, you need a road map. By writing out an outline and organizing your research, you’ll be able to work through your pages quickly. You won’t have to stop and think about what to write next because you’ll have your outline to follow.
3. Reveal.
Try to share personal stories and examples. It’s a lot easier to write about your own experiences or the experiences of someone else than trying to explain a concept outright. Your writing will be a lot more interesting and easier to write if you can think of ways to share examples from your own life. If you don’t have personal experience with the topic you can make up stories or draw examples from others who have experience. This is essential if you are working with big topics or topics that are a little dry. It will not only make your writing more fun but it will help get the concept across to your reader.
4. Rethink.
There are two parts to everyone’s brain – the creative side and the critical side. The critical side of your brain can get in the way when you are trying to write. It will tell you to fix that sentence or that your paragraph isn’t good enough. Your writing will go much more quickly if you can put your critic on a shelf and just write until you can’t write anymore. Assure your inner critic that it can go to town on your information product, but only after your creative side has had it’s way. You’ll find that your writing will go more quickly, mistakes and all, when your critic is quiet during the writing process.
5. Read.
The quickest, and best, way to edit your product is to read it out loud. Even if your word processor has spell check and grammar check, there can still be things wrong with your content. Reading your product out loud will override your brain’s tendency to fill in mistakes with the right words. By doing this, your editing will go a lot quicker.
Even if you were the worst English student in the world, you can quickly and easily write your content when you follow these steps.
Article Writing: 3 Motives Do Not Equal One Objective.
Article Writing: 3 Motives Do Not Equal One Objective.
You’re an internet marketer or main street business person striving to use article marketing to build your business.
You have three motivations.
• Brand Yourself as an Expert in Your Field.
• Drive Traffic to Your Web Site, Store or Blog.
• Create Back Links to Raise Your Standing in the Search Engines.
Article writing can help you accomplish all three.
However, when you sit down to write that article, your focus needs to be elsewhere first and foremost. You need to concentrate not on your motives, but the needs of your reader.
Your prospective reader is looking for information, and your job as an article writer is to provide them with good information they can use. Ideally, you want to do that in an entertaining manner.
It’s only when you accomplish that goal, that you can expect your article to satisfy your motivations.
A well written useful article will be accepted by the article directories. So will many less well written ones. But far fewer poorly written articles will get republished by eZine editors. And that threshold is critical.
• Be aware and adhere to standard article guidelines.
• Do a careful spell and grammar check.
• Spend a moment to research your topic and offer good advice.
• If need be, hire a writer to produce good content for you.
While you may be able to get a back link through a directory that accepts a so-so article, imagine the positive impact when one of your articles is republished by an ezine with 100,000 readers.
If you are going to do the work, spend a few extra minutes and do it well.
Spend more time delivering quality content, and less worrying about keyword density. A well written article that provides value is more likely to encourage the reader to follow the lead in your resource box to your desired destination.
Article writing can be a powerful tool to build your reputation, drive traffic and improve your search engine standing. But to achieve these objectives you must meet the needs of the reader. When you focus on the reader’s needs, you will accomplish yours.
